Scotopic
This book describes the symptoms of a reading disability called Scotopic Sensitivity, or Meares-Irlen Syndrome, and compares them to my favorite animal — bats. This disability made it difficult for me to learn to read, and continues to affect my reading speed and visual perceptions today, but it has also driven me to research the underpinnings of the disorder through neuroscience.
The covers have prints of wings printed on the letter press with a cutout made from leaves. The format of the book is a trifold that allows the reader to read the book in an several different orders. |
